The Art of Living
Being someone who is sensitive to others' emotions, behaviors, and having compassion toward living creatures and things, I struggle with liking old "things." I am a contemporary; that is, I move forward with the times and am progressive in my ways wanting to improve upon where we are and where we have been.
This love of old things often brings up the debate about where our culture has been, and the oppression human kind has witnessed and is rooted in religion, racism, misogyny, and sexual orientation. When I see old things, I see craftsmanship and naive folk art, but I do not, in anyway, support the horrible behaviors of people that occurred during that same time period.
I don't want to go back to old days because there was tremendous hardship and oppression. I do want to appreciate the arts & crafts and progress to a more humanKINDness that we are all fully capable of. Peace, love, and rugs. XOXO
